Two new commercial loading zones have been approved to help with traffic safety for the residents of Molino Street Lofts. Each entrance at 500 and 530 Molino Street will have a 40ft. commercial loading zone. The new loading zones are a direct request to the D.O.T. from the Architectural Review Committee.
This is not good for us. We don’t need 80 feet of yellow curbs in my opinion. I understand from the folks at the city that “we” are also asking to eliminate parking on 4th place. Hhhhmmm…why are we trying to reduce the amount of parking in our neighborhood? Makes no sense. Confused…
I think the loading zones are fine. Remember, we are a work-live building and therefore, people run businesses out of Molino and commerical space is needed. This is part of the reason we have a diverse, unique living environment and community.
Also, we are being short-sighted if we think 5-6 car lengths of curb is a reduction of the neighborhood street parking. Once Barker is done, we will get the other side of Molino back … and the area around Barker will be cleaned up and provide additional, safe parking.
The irony is that most residents, commercial or otherwise, won’t be able to use the yellow space since most of them don’t use delivery trucks. We’ve basicly created two UPS and Fedex stops and how often do they come. Maybe 4-5 times a day? I think one is enough.
I do agree with you that when Barker is done it won’t matter. With an additional 290 owners, plus cafe diners also looking for spaces there will be definately be no street parking in the neighborhood. On the upside, the street will be a lot nicer.
